mdc logo.jpgThere is tension in the MDC-T led Gokwe South Urban Council after four of the six Councillors passed a vote of no confidence in a full council meeting against the chairman, Mr  Darlington Mudondo, whom they accused of corruption and incompetence.

The chairman is being accused of awarding tenders to non-existent companies while residents say the council has been abusing rate payers’ money to enrich themselves.

He has however dismissed the allegations as fabrications and malicious lies being spread by people who want to destroy him politically.

Mr Mudondo said he does not make decisions on his own but they decide as a council.

The Town Secretary, Mr Douglas Marongwe says the decision by the Councillors is a non-event and that it is not provided for in the Urban Councils Act.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government, Rural and Urban Development has since sent a board of inquiry and the team’s report is yet to be made public.

PRESIDENT R.G. MUGABE QUOTES

"I am here for as long as I am still sane, with good memory and will power. I thank God for giving me extra strength. I still have a bright mind; I still have will. I know our history more than you do. I know the wishes of those heroes and those who lie elsewhere more than you do. I know the wishes of the chiefs, dead and alive." - At 6th Zanu PF National People's Congress, 2014.
